Few cities are more alive than Spain's capital of Madrid. The third largest metropolitan area in Europe has so much to offer, from beautiful architecture and museums like the Museo National del Prado to local cuisine and a thrilling nightlife. Visitors are never disappointed with the wide range of sights and activities in the heart of the Iberian Peninsula.
Madrid is also a great golf destination, with many courses to choose from. Rainfall here is quite rare which makes this the perfect destination any time of the year. Many of the best golf courses have traditionally been member-exclusive, but in recent years they have begun opening their doors to the public, giving everyone the chance to play some of Europe's great treasures. Among the finest in the area are Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, one of the largest sports complexes in Europe, and Golf La Moraleja, which features four 18-hole courses, but, unfortunately, remains closed to the general public. The Royal Spanish Golf Federation’s National Centre is an 18-hole golf course that deserves special mention for having some of best practice facilities in Europe. Other highly regarded layouts in the Madrid area are Real Club de Golf La Herreria, Golf Santander, Golf Puerta de Hierro and Real Sociedad Hipica Club de Campo. With all of these golf courses, Madrid will without doubt continue to be one of the premier golfing destinations in Continental Europe.
