Punta Cana is a relaxing golf destination in one of the most beautiful parts of the Caribbean. Located at the tip of the Dominican Republic, the region offers crystal blue waters, white-sand beaches and a tropical wet-and-dry climate with an average temperature of 86 °F (30 °C). Visitors can explore the historic city of Santo Domingo, discover the beach paradises of Saona Island or take part in one the one of the many Caribbean safaris.
Punta Cana offers golfers a choice of 11 courses located all along the strip. Punta Espada is probably the best of the lot, perhaps even the best in the whole Caribbean. Designed by Jack Nicklaus, this breathtaking championship golf course features 8 holes along the shore and stunning ocean views throughout. Corales Golf Course, a Tom Fazio design that opened in 2010, is another great golfing experience here; it certainly matches Punta Espada in terms of seaside beauty. Like many Fazio designs, the fairways are wide and forgiving so that a 15-handicapper has a chance when the trade winds are howling. And golfers simply cannot leave the island without a round at the Teeth of the Dog. Meticulously hand-carved from the rugged rock and coral of the Dominican coastline, this course has 18 astonishing holes, seven of which play right along the ocean.
Other recommended courses in Punta Cana are: The Dye Fore and The Links at Casa de Campo, Catalonia Caribe Golf Club, Cocotal Golf and Country Club, La Cana Golf Course, La Estancia Golf Resort and Playa Grande Golf Course.
