Chicago, known as the Windy City, is the third most populous city in the United States. The city lies on the edge of Lake Michigan, one of the five Great Lakes of North America. It is home to two of the tallest towers in the western hemisphere, the Willis Tower and Trump International Hotel and Tower.
As other major cities in the United States, sports is a big deal in Chicago. Baseball and football are the most watched sports in the city but basketball used to be quite big when Michael Jordan was playing. As for golf, Chicago is known as the public golf capital in the United States. It is home to some amazing public golf courses such as Cog Hill Golf and Country Club, The Glen Club, Harborside International Golf Center, Thunderhawk Golf Club, Pine Meadow and Stonwall Orchard Golf Club to name but a few.
In 2018 Tiger Woods unveiled his design for the new South Shore Golf Course, near the Barack Obama Presidential Center. The course will combine two of Chicago’s most revered public courses (South Shore and Jackson Park) to become one world-class facility, with rates capped at $50 for residents and the courses has been mooted as a potential future host for the Presidents Cup.
The Greater Chicago area is home to several premier country clubs including the 2012 Ryder Cup host and 5-time Major venue Medinah Country Club and Olympia Fields Country Club, which hosted the US Open in 2003.
