Every course that is worth playing in New Zealand features some combination of the kinds of breathtaking views of the mountains, countryside and sea that visitors to the country can't stop talking about. Even so, Jack's Point stands out among all the rest for its panoramic vistas of scenic Lake Wakatipu and of the sun glinting off the snowfields that top the surrounding Remarkables mountain range. The route takes players to the shore of the lake through dramatic changes in elevation. Native flora and fauna are to be found, since it is part of the club's mission to be sustainable and environmentally conscious. The fairways accordingly follow the land, with very little artificial sculpting. As usual an imposing length (6388 meters) can be reduced to a manageable size through a proper selection of tees. The staid clubhouse nicely embodies the club's unofficial motto, "preserve 95% and settle 5."
