Open Country, Forest
Members and their guests
Tom Fazio designed a roomy and lovely but challenging course for the Golf Club of Oklahoma in the countryside a half hour from the center of Tulsa. The grounds include woodlands and border the Kadashan Reservoir, and feel far removed from civilization. Trees line the holes and are frequently in play. The fairways tend to be tight, and the rough is persistent and tough to drag a club through. Both nines conclude with an exquisite three-hole stretch; one of these holes, the par 3 17th, is the signature. The layout rewards the combination of power and precision from the tee-off; beginners and those who are off their game should come prepared with several sleeves of balls. All the same, rounds go pretty fast. The towering clubhouse features a patio that looks out over the grounds, and the membership has access to fine accommodations right next door.
