Less than one hours drive from Edinburgh and only 20 minutes from St Andrews the Home of Golf, Elie provides a unique golfing experience. Formed in 1875, with only a few Clubs in Scotland older, the 18 hole cpurse is a classic example of links golf. The real character of the course is through the 6th to 14th holes, a stretch that takes golfers out to the sea and with a wind blowing leaves one in no doubt about its seaside character. Few tees in the world of golf are as beautiful as Elie's short par 3, the 11th.

Playing golf in Scotland is special and Elie is no exception. Is is a short course (approx 6200 yards) with one or two quirky holes but remains a true fun links challenge. The first hole is pretty unique as you hit a blind tee shot over a hill and cannot start until the starter checks if the fairway is clear with the help of a WWII submarine periscope! From the sixth, you will be closer to the see. The stretch from the 10th to the 13th is among the best holes in Scotland with stunning views over the beach and the sea. In general, I was positively surprised by the quality of Elie, which is shadowed by its prestigious neighbors such as Kingbarns or the St Andrews courses. Elie is definitely worth a round if you are in Fife!
