course description

The Fontana Golf Club would blend right in on the outskirts of Orlando. It is a wonderful example of what can be achieved with plenty of room and money on an unimpressive site. The club belongs to the American-Austrian Magna Corporation, and is part of a company facility that employs 80,000. It is also the current location for the Austrian Open, so the course is a more than adequate test for the best. The handsome, low-slung Colonial clubhouse looks like something out of the American South. In front is a huge, man-made lake with beaches that make for great swimming during the brief summer. Water shapes the strategy of the course, constantly encouraging the better player to "go for it" with carries of up to 200 yards to distant greens, but a watery grave awaiting failure. For lesser players, there is plenty of room for a longer, safer round.
