Kenya Open

13 - 16 March 2019

The Kenya Open is a golf tournament in Kenya and has been an event on the European based Challenge Tour schedule since 1991. It was founded in 1967, and has been held at Muthaiga Golf Club near Nairobi every year except 1968, 2004–2008, and 2013, when the tournament was held at Karen Country Club.

The Tournament has attracted elite golfers from all over the world and is currently the second oldest event under the PGA European Challenge Tour. For the traveling golfer, teeing off in one of Kenya’s many world class golf courses makes for a perfect break from a safari. Kenya’s weather is ideal for golf all year round making it one of the world’s top golfing destinations.

The title has been won by some of Europe’s biggest Ryder Cup stars, including Seve Ballesteros, Ian Woosnam, Ken Brown and Christy O’Connor Jr, as well as future Masters champion Trevor Immelman. The most successful player is England’s Maurice Bembridge, who recorded three victories between 1968 and 1979.

The Kenya Open continues to grow with each passing event. The list of past champions who took part this year event underlines the increasing strength of the tour and that of Kenya as a preferred destination of choice for golfers. As of 2019, the tournament is now organized by the European Tour.
