This was the country's first residential golfing community, and the two full courses here share the grounds with lavish homes and tennis courts. Being located nearer the center of Ho Chi Minh City, the facilities are much in demand. The layout for the East Course is by Lee Trevino, who as always was careful to accommodate players from newcomers to pros. The ground is fairly level and the fairways are wide, but there are challenges here in the form of water on nearly half of the holes, strategic bunkering and sculpted, deceptive greens—so expect a round to take awhile. The Hana Bank Vietnam Masters, an Asian Tour event, was played on the East in 2008 (Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand emerged victorious). The well-appointed clubhouse features a Turkish bath and Finnish sauna, and dining facilities that overlook the grounds. All in all, this is a fine golfing experience.
