The Trump National Doral Miami resort boasts five championship courses, of which the Blue Monster is the standout, and has attracted many PGA Tour events, including the Doral Open (1962-2006) and the Cadillac Open (from 2007). The layout is, however, a bit disappointing; while holes vary in size and orientation, there is a sameness to the array of palms and sand traps from hole to hole; only the 18th with its famous water hazard is unforgettable. One can also quibble with the profusion of over-water carries, bunkering and wind, and with the size of the practice ground. All the same, this is a tournament-quality course with all the length and super speedy greens. Getting on the course is facilitated by valets to park your car and an attentive staff. Visitors to the resort will probably want to explore some of the other courses rather than hitting the Blue Monster repeatedly.
