Old North Club is located a ways from Charlotte in North Carolina's Piedmont region in the private Uwharrie Point community. The grounds front on a Badin Lake, man-made body of water, and lie on what was once a tree nursery. The gently hilly woodlands provide a perfect setting for every hole, with the lake being a factor on the last stretch. Thus water frames the green on the par 4 16th; the par 3 17th has a forced carry over an inlet; and the dogleg, par 5 final hole has the lake all on one side. The trees that define a number of the holes demand straight drives, while precise putts are needed on the large and often backslanting greens. Beginners will probably find Old North State too demanding, but better than average players will find it very enjoyable. The clubhouse has all the facilities you would expect at a top club.
