Arnold Palmer, Ed Seay
Musgrove Mill Golf Club, which is located some ninety miles outside of Charlotte in Clinton, South Carolina, was established in the 1980s, and its course was designed by Arnold Palmer, who shares with his contemporary Jack Nicklaus a penchant for putting players to the test. Indeed, though it measures less than 6400 meters, the course may be a bit too much for less experienced players; in Palmer's own, somewhat menacing, words, "players of this course are going to find all the golf they ever wanted right here." Still, a judicious selection of tees should allow most golfers to have fun on the course, and all will enjoy the lovely scenery. The club takes its name from the Battle of Musgrove's Mill, where in 1780 a surprise attack by Revolutionary forces defeated a Loyalist militia, giving the cause a much-needed morale boost.
