Located on a 600-acre tract overlooking the ocean on legendary Hilton Head Island, Long Cove is the perfect escape for a golfer seeking refuge during the cold months. The club is also the longtime home of one of the opening events on the US Tour's seasonal calendar. While most of the clubs on the island tend to cater to tourists, this one was created in the Seventies by local players who wanted their own private golf preserve in the area. The seaside location is calm and soothing compared with the bustle elsewhere on Hilton Head, and the surrounding development is almost unnoticeable. The design was created by Pete Dye working in conjunction with his wife Alice and son P. B., and the aim was never for the course to attract championships, though it measures 6400 meters, but to provide fun and challenging golf for the select membership.
