British designer Clive Clark created the first course, the Celebrity, at Indian Wells Golf Resort in California's Palm Desert region in 2006. The the Players Course, designed by John Fought, however, has emerged as the club's centerpiece since opening for play in 2007. Measuring a full 6736 meters, the spacious layout makes the most of the rolling landscape and picturesque desert surroundings with views of the San Bernadino, San Jacinto and Santa Rosa Mountains. The weather is perfect for golf, particularly in the winter. The Players has the dimensions to serve as the location for a major tournament, but it is at heart a resort course, where the challenges tend to be along the sides of the playing areas so that average players can have fun. Fought also built a 9-hole putting course with natural grass. The golfing facilities are all within easy walking distance of the resort's luxury hotels.
