Dr. Michael Hurdzan
With the hiring of Mark Yates, the former Assistant Superintendent at The Club at Nevillewood, and Sam’s passion and knowledge of golf which is quite evident, the course conditions continue to improve dramatically. They have and taken out sixteen of the steep-faced fairway bunkers creating more room for players to hit their tee shots while also eliminating hazards that were un-maintainable. To date 4000 trees have been removed, especially on the left side of the par-5, dogleg-left 1st hole, creating more room for players to hit the fairway. "We just opened everything up; it was claustrophobic". We have just completed the renovation of 36 sand bunkers. The process began with the removal of the old sand, next came rebuilding of the drains and the final step was adding the same top quality sand that South Hills Country Club, The Club at Nevillewood as well as St. Clair Country Club uses. With the recent purchase of 72 new state-of-the-art GPS systems, we are proud to say that we are only area golf course with this system which definitely speeds up playing time.
