The first course at Siam Country Club Pattaya was laid out by I. Izumi in the late 1960s and was then renovated by the team of Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley in 2007, at the same time they created the club's Plantation Course. The renovation left most of Izumi's layout intact and focused on enhancing the fairways, increasing the bunkering and modernizing the greens. The success of this work is reflected in the fact that the Honda LPGA Thailand competition was held here in 2007 and 2010. A big creek winds through the middle of the property and provides the orientation for most of the holes, which play either in the direction of the creek or away from it. The many deciduous trees here give the course a European feel, unlike many clubs in this part of the world that prefer palms. The recently refurbished clubhouse melds seamlessly into its hillside surroundings.
