The course is good. It has a few holes which will stay in your memory but sadly it is let down by the way that it is maintained. Overly soft greens and with lots of pitch scarring and for the price being charged, golfers could well demand more. The course has a great reputation but as with many Algarve courses the greens are overwatered and spongy and the overall presentation is lacking love. In summary the general impression is one of a dated club in need of some investment. I like it but I’ve played better.
Although it does not belong to the same owner as the South, North and Laranjal, San Lorenzo is another great golf course in the area! The views over the Rio Formossa are just breathtaking but the maintenance far from the QdL courses. San Lorenzo is a gem in need of a bit of love.
