Pioneering architect Donald Ross was brought in to design the course at Brookside Country Club, and he succeeded in creating a most enjoyable eighteen holes. In the early Eighties Robert Trent Jones refurbished the course, and further work by Brian Silva in 2005 earned the latter designer high praise for refurbishing the bunkers and tee complexes, clearing out some of the trees, and restoring Ross's putting greens and S-shaped fairways. The signature par 5 18th measures 529 yards and plays uphill to a heavily bunkered, postage stamp green for a thrilling finish to the round. The many local, state and national championships over the years have created a tradition of superb upkeep at Brookside. Play is by invitation only, but those who get the chance can supplement their trip to this part of Ohio with a visit to the Canton Classic Car Museum or the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
