Greg Norman designed the course at Playa Mujeres Golf and Spa Resort in Cancun. Since opening in 2005, the layout has earned praise for its excellent use of a fine natural site that is shared by a residential development on the coast. The road in leaves something to be desired, but once players arrive they can ease into a round in the modest but very well appointed clubhouse with dining inside and outside and a superb bar. The layout is excellent, though less skilled players may find themselves overwhelmed. The 16th is a standout among the excellent beach holes. Most of the holes play to one side or the other, and the narrow fairways seem even tighter when the breezes blow, as they often do. Indeed, wind is probably the main variable in scoring, assuming that one can negotiate the water and other hazards and choose the correct tees.
