Avalon Golf Estate’s golf course will be referred to as Peter Matkovich’s “secret”, since many people are not yet aware of the spectacular course that has been created.
Underpinning this project is an unyielding respect for our land and its natural surroundings. It is a Matkovich’s philosophy to “listen to the land”, believing that nature best shapes their design. Never has this been truer than at Avalon.
Making your way through the magnificent golf resort, you will be amazed by the surroundings. Our beautiful 18-hole course meanders through tropical bush landscape with a collection of indigenous Fandia Fern trees to make it look different from the other golf course in Mauritius. Those who love playing golf will be surely impressed.
The course has a par of 72, with holes varying in length – short to long par 3’s, a variety of par 4’s including a couple of drivable options (depending on wind direction), and then some fun par 5’s, which also vary between longer and shorter. As the course is set on the highland, wind will obviously have a great influence on the way the course plays every day, providing golfers with a different course in different wind conditions. The first 4 holes are played downhill with the beautiful view of the Southern coastline in front of you.
