Robert Trent Jones Sr., Roger Rulewich
There was little in the way of golf in the west part of the island when Robert Trent Jones built the course at Half Moon more than half a century ago, and it quickly became recognized as one of the best anywhere in the Caribbean, and in so doing paving the way for the courses at Cinnamon Hill and White Witch. In more recent years, Roger Rulewich, who learned his craft under Jones, was brought in to oversee a thorough refurbishment. The course follows fairly level terrain, where dazzling white sand bunkers serve more to mark the boundaries of the holes than to snare the wayward ball. Half Moon is part of the Rose Hall Golf Association, which was created to promote the game in this part of Jamaica, but in general the course fulfills the purpose for which it was created, namely of providing resort golf for tourists.
