No region in Italy is more popular as a tourist destination than Tuscany, where the Terme di Saturnia Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort is to be found in the southern area known as Maremma. The club planned its course, which American architect Ronald Fream designed, with the express aim that it be environmentally friendly, and that commitment is reflected in the way that water is used and the natural features of the landscape are integrated into the layout. As far as possible, native plants and such wildlife as rabbits, turtles and deer have been left undisturbed. Measuring 6249 meters, the course has considerable length; its other major difficulty comes in the form of carefully positioned bunkering that works together with the water hazards. On the other hand, the Terme di Saturnia is spacious, its fairways ample, so overall the play is not overly challenging for average to good players.
