The course at the Concra Wood Golf and Country Club, which debuted in 2008, is becoming recognized as one of the best in Ireland as it matures. The father and son team of Christy O'Connor Sr. and Jr. laid out the course on the shores of Lough Muckno, which the younger O'Connor described as "one of Ireland's best-kept secrets." More than half of the holes play right up to the edge of the water, and can be downright intimidating. The challenge begins straightaway, with a water hazard defending the 1st green. Perhaps the best hole is the par 5 4th, which swings right and then in the opposite direction, while the waters of the Lough stand ready for anyone who tries but fails to reach the green in two. In fact, every hole calls for concentration and care, so don't be distracted by the scenic lake and mountain vistas.
