The course here at the Adare Manor Golf Club, which dates to early in the Nineties, is one of the last by Robert Trent Jones. The setting is dominated by the old manor house and its many outbuildings on the scenic Maigne River. The extensive layout spreads over parkland, with the spacious front nine affording a good sense of the nature and extent of the grounds. The back nine is less open, working its way through forested land before arriving back at the manor. At a length of over 6800 meters off the back tees, the course has the length for tournaments, though a nice selection of tee positions is available for less accomplished players; nevertheless, it may be a bit too much for casual golfers. Adare has certainly become a fixture for championships in Ireland, having been the site of the 2003 Irish PGA and the 2007 and 2008 Irish Open.
