Players who dote on links courses would probably name Budersand the best golf in Germany. Similar to the iconic links in the UK, this course is of modest length (around 6000 meters) and makes maximum use of its setting. Despite being fairly level, this is an authentic links, and designer Rolf Stephan Hansen, an attentive student of those old British, Scottish and Irish courses, has shown great sensitivity to the flow and strategy of the layout. Being located in northern Germany near Denmark and surrounded by the North Sea, Budersand experiences brisk and breezy conditions, but that is all part of the links experience. Given its remoteness, it is unsurprising that tournaments do not flock here, but locals and visitors to the region can enjoy some excellent golf. The only drawback to the setting is the presence of a few edifices that remain from an old military installation.
