Bernhard von Limburger
Yes, from Monday - Friday (except public holidays).
As were a number of the early clubs in Germany, the Refrath course at Köln (Cologne) was originally laid out as a nine, specifically on the grounds of the Cologne Racecourse. Since these grounds offered no space for growth, an adjacent property was purchased to create a full eighteen, and even today one enters the premises through an ancient door in what once was a wall around this property. Indeed, the course seems to rise organically from its surroundings, again like many German courses in the first half of the twentieth century: there is little excavation, and the ups and downs of the course are those of the land itself. There actually is not a lot of relief here, and the generous fairways and occasional bunkers make for rewarding, straightforward play. Of the tournaments Refrath has hosted, Bernhard Langer clinched the amateur title in 1975 and Seve Ballesteros won the German Open in 1978.
