Architect Dave Thomas was sensitive to the fact that this course is located in exquisite surroundings, and his design merges with the stunning landscape of the Alpes-Maritimes department, which includes the French Riviera. Even the brief ride from the entry gates—of stone, naturally—to the clubhouse is picturesque. Limestone hills, forests of oak and ancient cliffside hamlets create a stunning environment. The holes are threaded over rolling terrain, with tree-lined fairways and strategically positioned water and sand hazards. Of the Terre Blanche Hotel Golf Resort's two courses, the Château is the standout, with the length (6681 meters) to take on championship play. Among the other attractions of the resort are David Leadbetter Golf Academy and Biomecaswing Performance Center franchises and a five-star Four Seasons Hotel with a gourmet restaurant. Perhaps it is for the best that the Terre Blanche experience is pricy; otherwise golfers would stay forever.
