Given this course's proximity to Germany, Bernard Langer was a natural choice as architect. Langer completed the course in the mid-Nineties, and it has matured into a fine location for corporate golf. Unlike the management at some courses, that at Soufflenheim Baden Baden is refreshingly businesslike: everything is carefully organized to streamline the golfing experience, and there are such practical measures as discounts for play during the off hours, so players are never hemmed in or slowed down. The complex's surrounding residences crowd the course somewhat, but the focus here is on challenging and developing players rather than entertaining them with scenery. A number of the holes have water hazards, and all are bordered by sculpted bushes, which feature can make for a certain sameness to the holes. At the same time, all the details are carefully attended to, from the parking lot to the practice area to the clubhouse.
