H. S. Colt, Willie Dunn, Jr.
The Golf de Biarritz le Phare is set on a 34-hectare site in the centre of Biarritz. This 5402 metres par 69 course was built in 1888 and was designed by Willie Dunn before being updated by Harry Colt. Its length and par gives the impression of being an easy course, which does not require you to be a big hitter, but it’s really not. It is a strategic course, which requires well placed tee shots and accurate approaches, and it is not that easy to shoot your handicap.
It is vital for the golfer to play their second shots from the fairways as the rough is penal and with over 70 bunkers to catch wayward drives and protect the fast, small greens. The course is well located, near to the town centre and offers great access to all necessary services: hotels, beaches and shops.
Golf can be played all year round here, with its location near to the ocean, it is warm and soft in the winter and cool in the summer.
