Worksop Golf Club was founded in 1914. Playable throughout the entire year, the course is regarded as one of the outstanding courses of the area for both difficulty & quality. It has a long tradition of providing the base for world class golfers including Lee Westwood, Mark Foster, Maurice Bembridge, and David Snell. The course is situated on the edge of Sherwood Forest and on the boundary of the National Trust’s Clumber Park presenting an excellent test of golf for any level of golfer. The superb natural sand and gravel sub soils for which Worksop is renowned result in lovely, fast running fairways and tricky greens, in a mature woodland setting. Ryder Cup legend, Lee Westwood states “I was proud to see Worksop Golf Club after my name in a multitude of county, national and international events and I can categorically say that without them, their members and my parents, I would not have achieved what I have in the game. My golfing future and an abundance of happy memories were decided and enjoyed there”.
