James Braid, H. S. Colt
Yes, from Monday - Friday (except public holidays).
This course lives up to all the expectations that have been created by images of Robin Hood in books and movies. Harry S. Colt began the layout here and James Braid completed it, and the resulting 6250-yard course has sufficient length for championship play, such as the qualifying rounds for the Open. Despite being overshadowed by nearby Hollinwell, Sherwood Forest is an equally good course, and indeed complements its neighbor as an experience in British inland golf. The thick grass and heather call for some long carries, and a few players may find the rolling terrain to be taxing. The front nine are fairly straightforward so that players are plenty warmed up but not worn out when they face the challenges on the back nine. Visitors to the area are advised to take in the Sherwood Forest when they visit the more celebrated courses at Hollinwell, Lindrick and Woodhall Spa.
