Ireland, Scotland, the coast around Lancashire and a couple places on the southern coast are where nearly all of England's outstanding links are to be found. Two of the best, however, are actually located on the shore of North Northfolk, near the Wash. Brancaster, otherwise known as Royal West Norfolk is the better known of the pair on account of its elegance and scenery, but spacious Hunstanton with its lovely clubhouse proves to be a superior place for golf, as is shown by the fact that tournament play in the area takes place here rather than at Brancaster. There has been a course on the site since the late nineteenth century, but the modern layout bears the stamp of James Braid's major overhaul a decade or two later. Wind is at play on every hole, and the effect varies considerably throughout a round, since the course plays out and back.

Excellent links course that has a few quirks such as a blind par-3 but the finishing holes make up for any doubt in your mind that this is a quality course. Shame it is predominantly a two ball only course.

Certainly one of my favourite courses to have played. An incredibly stearn test of coastal links. A real challenge, with some very interesting holes and a demand for straight drive consistency. Lit the back 9 up once I got used to the greens awesome pace.. 12 on the stimp I think it was? Lovely experience and the clubs rich history pays dividends.
