The Championship Course is, as its name suggests, a par 72, 6763 yard championship course, designed by former Ryder Cup captain Brian Huggett and opened in 1995. The course design includes Americanstyle features, such as oval tees, rolling fairways with mounds, water hazards and large, gently undulating greens. The course provides a variety of challenges whatever your standard of play. The windmill, visible from the 16th hole and built in the late 18th century, is where the course originally took its name. Host to the Mastercard Tour and Euro Pro Tour for four years from 1988, the course changed its name in 2006 to what we now know to be The Championship.
