Dr. Michael Hurdzan, Dana Fry
Members and their guests
This course was designed to recall an English course on the heath, and it shows what designers can do when they push the envelope. Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry teamed up to create holes that combine pleasure with challenges. The "Brush," as it has come to be called, plays out over sculptured terrain with little water but lurking bunkers amid such features as the remains of a farmhouse that underlie the 8th, pines amid double greens on the 11th and 14th, and some punishing putting. The fairways may be ample and the holes of moderate length, but there are some challenges here, such as the par 3, 226-yard 13th, where the player must cut onto a green that is defended by a valley on one side and a cliff face on the other. There is a rural feel to the club, with its gravel parking lot and sprawling, unpredictable course.
