The Sao Paulo Golf Club was one of the first in Brazil, having been established a century ago in the center of what became the most populous city in South America. This highly exclusive facility features a multilingual staff and top-notch service. The recently renovated clubhouse caters to players' whims and affords a lovely vista out over the final hole, not to mention a sheltered range. Robert Trent Jones II refurbished the course in 2005 to create a nice range of playing experiences where the bunkers and hazards are always carefully positioned; outstanding examples are the new par 5 18th and par 3 9th. There are no tricks here, just a pleasant and not too lengthy stroll through superbly maintained grounds. The Sao Paulo was attracting the notice of the European Tour even before the 2005 upgrade, and is in consideration as a venue when Brazil hosts the Olympics in 2016.
