This links-style course located north and east of Brisbane on Bribie Island is a blast. A number of designers have played a role in crafting the course in this nearly pristine setting with its abundant local flora and fauna. The very first hole, a par 5 at 500 meters, makes clear from the outset that this is not easy golf: bunkers on either side stand ready to punish the wild shot, and more appear right when it might seem to be doable in two. The bunkering and plentiful water, not to mention nearly constant wind, make for challenging play throughout. The beautiful par 4 18th brings things to a nice conclusion as the water edges up to the green. Here at Pacific Harbour advanced golfers will find themselves challenged, despite the festive atmosphere; the rest of us are advised to stick to tees that are more forward.
