Our 4 days at Barnbougle were without any shadow of doubt the golfing highlight of our 2 months in Australia. Wow, wow, wow, what a place. The 20 holes at Lost Farm were my favourite, mainly because the six par 3’s are just sensational, but the whole course is just magnificent. Absolute golfing heaven.
After playing the Dunes the night before and treating my wife and I to a nice diner and night at Lost Farm, I got to play the 2nd course on the property. I woke up very early to enjoy a beautiful sunrise and take some drone pictures and got the great surprise of seeing hundreds of kangaroos casually playing on the course! As soon as I stepped on the 1st tee box, I was in love with the course! Absolutely loved all 20 (!!) holes with a special thought to holes 4 - 6 as well as 18. This Coore and Crenshaw designed is my favorite out of the 2 and is, as you'd expect, in top conditions. I believe they did a great job for all the players to have a fabulous time! It was a long way from home, but what a course!
Really enjoyed playing this 20-hole course. Very playable and a good challenge for all standards of golfers, with generous wide fairways, well-placed bunkers and undulating greens. Some great views of the ocean amongst the tall dunes. Coore and Crenshaw did a fantastic job on the layout and the course as in superb condition when we played.
There's a good choice of accommodation, with a 4-star lodge on site at Lost Farm and 3.5-star cottages and villas located overlooking the Dunes course, which is a 5 minute drive away.
