Desert Willow Golf Resort is a luxury facility just outside Palm Springs that features two courses, of which Firecliff is the superior (though the other is worth a spin). The weather is nearly always excellent and the air is pure in this idyllic setting high up in the hills of this California desert. The scenic layout features a nice balance of bright blossoms and native brush for the rough, patches of water that are simultaneously lovely and strategic, and contoured fairways. At 6400 meters long, Firecliff was clearly not meant to host tournaments—indeed, the location, facilities and courses are enough in themselves to attract clientele without the added draw of a national competition broadcast. The fairways and greens are well integrated, and over a hundred bunkers or waste areas keep players on their toes. Golf Week and Golf World have both rated the Firecliff among the best of its kind.
The Mountain View
The Mountain View course at Desert Willow Golf Resort was designed to be a transition between the more challenging, tournament-quality Firecliff course and the traditional course of fence to fence turfgrass, flowers and flowing water. Mountain View was intended to have each of these characteristics, but with its own distinct personality.
