Golfing Tranquillity In The Midlands Castle Barna Golf Club in Daingean, Co. Offaly is one of the most popular golf clubs in the Midlands. Nestled along the banks of the Grand Canal, this 18-Hole Parkland course has matured into a most challenging & enjoyable course. The course is laid-out on rolling parkland with plenty of mature trees, natural streams and easy-going terrain, which provides a great challenge for golfers of all abilities. Host to the Golfing Union of Ireland’s Millennium Pierce Purcell Shield is proof of the course’s testing features. The Barge The signature hole is the Par 3, 9th named “The Barge” which measures only 109 metres off the Back tees however with the Grand Canal on your right and large mature trees on the left, your tee shot must be straight. Greenside bunkers also await a short shot while the drain behind will catch an over hit shot making this short hole a true test of your golf and nerve.
