Dana Fry and Michael Hurdzan are responsible for the demanding layout of the course at the highly exclusive Calusa Pines Golf Club in Naples, on Florida's Gulf Coast. This luxury facility occupies a secluded site and is loaded with all the amenities, starting with the comfortable and plush clubhouse where the staff attends to players' every need. It almost goes without saying that the maintenance is impeccable. The landscape had to be heavily reworked to create the design for the course, but nothing looks artificial. The par 3 and par 5 holes are oriented variously with respect to the wind in order to keep things interesting. Among the standout holes is the 16th, which introduces the excellent triad with which a round concludes. For those fortunate enough to be a member of the club or to wangle an invitation, excellent accommodations are available in the splendid bungalows.
