No expense seems to have been spared at Bro Hof Slott Golf Club northwest of Stockholm. The grounds are fittingly dominated by a restored old castle, which gives its name to one of the courses here. The other course is the Stadium; both were designed by Robert Trent Jones II. Measuring 7365 meters, the Stadium, which was finished in 2007, is as long as courses come in Europe, and the whole thing has been done on a massive scale. Thus 70,000 tons of sand were brought in to give the site the feel of a links; there are acres of crushed marble used in the bunkering; and over a thousand sprinklers and an extensive drainage system keep the grasses healthy. Water, and wind, are definitely in play. The club hosted the Scandinavian Masters in 2010, and was a host candidate for the 2018 Ryder Cup.
