The Club at Carlton Woods is situated in Woodlands, an upscale suburb of Houston. The club's first course, which opened in 2001, was designed by Jack Nicklaus, and two years later Tom Fazio designed the course that takes his name and that has proved to be a worthy companion to the well-received Nicklaus. The Fazio is laid out so that a round takes the players back to the clubhouse a number of times, an arrangement that facilitates short games when time is limited. The lovely property is surrounded by imposing new mansions. The fairways are wide and scenic; the greens are terraced and require careful study; and the bunkers have high banks. This is a luxury course with all the amenities at the elegant but welcoming clubhouse, from innovative training facilities to a spa and gym, while the course itself has stops for refreshments and shelter from the elements.
The Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course at Carlton Woods opened in 2001 to rave reviews and high acclaim. Designed personally by Jack Nicklaus, the generous teeing grounds and landing areas wind among lakes and parklands, and the greens feature an intriguing design of undulation and bunkering.
