No better links course has come into being in recent times than Kingsbarns, which was in fact built on the site of nine early links holes. Developers Mark Parsinen and Art Dunkley from the US convinced local landowners and officials to build on the site, and they enlisted architect Kyle Phillips to help design the quintessential links. Through careful study of other layouts in the area, attention to the unique coastal landscape and discreet excavation, the team has created a pair of nines that begin and end at the clubhouse, and from which the ocean is always in view. The front nine is nice, but the back is exquisite. These holes take full advantage of the coastline, including the standout short 15th, which plays across a small rugged bay to a green surrounded on three sides by water and is the very image of Cypress Point's fabled 16th.
