Geneva, a club founded in the early 1920s, is located on the outskirts of the capital and is now surrounded by residential development—and only half an hour from the airport. The course was designed in 1973 by Robert Trent Jones, and was one of his first projects in Europe apart from the UK. The site is not large, but Jones was able to make room for eighteen distinct holes (though two use the same green), and he has done a good job working the native trees into the strategy. Though the layout is fairly short, many of the holes are drivable, and the course will give players the opportunity to make lots of different kinds of shots. Each half of the course returns to the clubhouse. The club has hosted a number of major events over the years, including the 1975 European Junior Championship, the 1982 Ladies Amateurs and the Rolex Trophy.
