Casamassima, Italy

course description

Barialto Golf Club was built in 1997 to create a place of sharing the passion for golf and at the same time to better the landscape creating the only golf course in the area. A work realized thanks to the collaboration of the architects Giorgio Ferraris and William W. Amick.

It was the same William W. Amick, elected in 1977 President of the American Society of Golf Course Architects and recently selected as Fellow in ASGCA, who opted for the Bermuda Grass as the mantle of the course, this grass arrived in Italy in container from Spain and USA. Giorgio Ferraris and William W. Amick decided also to use clay instead of some plastics materials for the waterproofing of the 5 lakes that make the golf course of the Barialto Golf Club much more pleasant and various.

The lakes today have become a natural part of the landscape where animals such as heron, coot and wild duck have found their ideal natural habitat.

The beautiful course of the Barialto Golf Club, immersed in our green Macchia Mediterranea, winds for about 6.000 metres between palm trees and centuries old olives, and has five lakes with reeds and water lilies. The golf course permits players to use all their clubs. The sand and water obstacles are strategically placed which provide variety where good shots will be rewarded..
