Having squared off in tournament play, Jack Nicklaus and Tony Jacklin combined forces to create the layout for the Concession Golf Club. Located in Bradenton, on Florida's Gulf Coast, the club is somewhat out of the way, making it a tranquil oasis in the frenetic world of Florida golf. The course takes its name from a famous incident during the 1969 Ryder Cup, when Nicklaus "conceded" a putt to Jacklin in a supreme act of sportsmanship. The play here is supremely demanding, so much so that less experienced and older players may be overwhelmed by the forced carries and extra-speedy greens. Most players walk the course, which generally plays quickly. Those bold enough to tackle the layout can commiserate back at the large and impeccably maintained clubhouse, which features fine dining and lodging. Among recent events at Concession have been the 2015 NCAA Men's and Women's Championships.
