Karsten Creek takes its name from Karsten Solheim, who established Ping Golf; his wife Louise gave her name to a lake on the grounds, which are located near Stillwater, Oklahoma. The couple were great boosters of Oklahoma State University's golf team in their day; the driving force behind the project was onetime OSU golf coach and athletic director Mike Holder. The layout here extends through deciduous woodlands on gently rolling ground, where the aforementioned Lake Louise helps to make the front nine particularly attractive. Overall the holes present some intriguing choices between bold and dicey shots vs. a more methodical approach, so the course is great for matches. OSU's driving range is a sight to behold, a look at golf of the future with all of the high tech gadgetry. Caddies are available, and are highly recommended for those who want to make the most out of a great experience.
