Tom Weiskopf, Jay Morrish
Members and their guests
John McConnell, who established the members-only Double Eagle Club, just north of his home town of Columbus, is of the opinion that golf should be a refined pursuit, and the rules at his establishment are accordingly strict; thus, for example, shorts may not be worn by men. (One club tradition, however, is for members to disregard the tee markers.) Ohio's movers and shakers demand the best, and here they are treated like royalty by the attentive staff. The club enlisted architects Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf to create the course, which opened in 1992. The layout is not easy, but it is quite straightforward, with a range of tees. One nice feature is the extra 19th hole, a mere 96 yards, which stands ready for those who want to play just a little bit more, to break ties, or to settle wagers. The course is walking only, with caddies available.
