This is without a doubt the best golf course that I have ever played on. Sadly we had to start on the 10th tee but this didn't put me off my game. The course was in excellent condition and the clubhouse was lovely. A great day out not to be missed.
I'm excited to be back at TPC Sawgrass in March for the Players Championship. I always loved the way this golf course is presented with a "greener look" at this time of the year. The course plays different compared to May, as you can get some cool days and a northerly breeze blowing, which can make the course very demanding.
The fairways play wider in March because of the softer conditions, but the rough is thicker, therefore if you're off line from the tee, you can get into a lot of trouble. The course becomes target golf, requiring you to be more precise and to me the course was designed to be played this way. Indeed, targets are there to be hit and if you do, you get rewarded. In this respect, TPC Sawgrass is similar to Augusta National. If you find the target, you can work the ball to the hole using the contours of the green, whereas if you miss the correct section, you can end up finding it hard to two-putt for your par or birdie.
