Had a great day in the City playing Presidio for my 30th birthday. Wonderful course that gets a ton of play but is kept in great shape. With heavy rain just 2 days ago the course drains well (It really has to located in San Francisco). A beautiful day in the upper 60’s with little to no wind made this spring day a special one. The course is littered in wildflowers that’s in full bloom. With many great views from almost every hole with no surrounding houses on the course you feel isolated within a huge city.
With a small range (turf mats only) and a small practice green, the practice facilities are minimal but you can still get a good warm up before beginning your round. The proshop is well stocked and they have a well placed restaurant/bar across the hall. We almost made the mistake of ordering at the turn before being told food takes 15min to prepare. Their is a well placed ‘halfway house’ located after 11 that also is nearby other holes for easy access to hotdogs, snakes, and drinks.
Presidio reminds me a lot of Harding Park but I got the feeling it’s more of a difficult walk than Harding with more hills to climb. If I only could play Harding or Precideo it would be a toss up with Harding being more expensive but more popular with pro events being played their.
Make sure you enjoy the great culture and fantastic food in and around the neighborhoods surrounding the Precideo. I also recommend since your so close to the Golden Gate Bridge to bike over and have dinner in Sausalito. After an evening in Sausalito take the ferry back, it may end up being one of your best golf days ever.
Love this golf course. Used to play it every Friday morning in the summer, teeing off at 6:30 and flying around. Not a tough layout, but very fun with some great vistas and one of the most spectacular par 3s in California.
